Due to continued business growth and an increasing portfolio of work in 2021, we are now seeking applications from Senior Mechanical Engineers to join our team in St. Augustine, Florida. Working within a collaborative and dynamic team environment, you will have the opportunity to be involved in all facets of engineering from development of process diagrams through testwork, conceptual and feasibility studies, through to detailed design. The role includes exposure various project engineering and site activities as well as some business development activities.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE:

 

This role will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

 

Support design team activities by performing mechanical engineering calculations for various elements within a project, taking into consideration the project needs and the standards required to be conformed with.
To develop engineering documentation/deliverables as part of design projects to an agreed standard and a thorough level of completeness.
To assist with develop of engineering proposals by providing mechanical engineering support to bids and developing capital cost estimates for processing plants.
To work together with the business development team to assist with the growth of the North America business by identifying opportunities and representing the business from an engineering point of view.
To mentor and encourages the professional development of the less experienced members of the team to help them achieve their goals.
From time to time, act as the sole (or lead) mechanical engineer on projects and provide proactive technical leadership, ensuring all mechanical deliverables are produced on time, to budget and to an agreed standard.
From time to time, depending on the scale of a project, act as the overall lead to achieve delivery in full, and on time.

 

To be successful in this role you will:

 

Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and be eligible for practice in Florida.
Preferably hold P.Eng certification in mechanical engineering in Florida.
Have at least 8 years of experience in engineering design environment.
Have at least 5 years of experience in mineral processing plant design and/or operation.
Have technical aptitude, good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Have familiarity with zero harm (safety and environmental systems) and related legislation.
Have a high level of understanding and experience in performing calculations for pumping systems.
Have a high level of understanding and experience to perform material handling design.
Have practical experience in construction, commissioning or operation of process and. materials handling equipment within processing plants.
Have experience with computer packages for drafting, design, structural analysis, project planning, project financial management, reporting and presentation.
Be able and willing to lead innovation within the engineering design process.
Be able to communicate effectively in written and oral mediums with peers and clients.
Have the ability and desire to learn as well as having a great sense of ownership.
Be prepared to travel both to Australia and overseas to undertake investigations and scoping studies, and to assist with plant construction, and commissioning.
Be prepared to work in a flexible work hours arrangement as needed for liaising with our Australian design team.
